"I promise I'll visit and I'll call you whenever I can!" I said, hoping that mum's disheartened expression wasn't exactly how she felt on the inside.
"It's alright, I'll be fine. As long as you have fun and stay safe!" She said as Sarah reappeared with her bag neatly packed in our doorway.
"Bye," I said lamely before stepping out of my house and leaving with Sarah. We walked in absolute silence until we were away from the houses. My heart was thudding and I could feel it on my ribcage, this was probably due to the thrill and excitement of finally joining the world of Pokémon.
"You really should have Shinx out of the Pokéball you know." Sarah said matter-of-factly, "I doubt you'll bond by holding his container in your hand."
"He'll run away." I said bluntly, tightening my grip on the Pokéball again. I stared down at it glumly because I knew that Sarah was right. The little capsule in my hand was holding something that was already beginning to influence my life.
